Any standard pill bottle can be enabled to carry out electronic therapy compliance monitoring.
The SmartBottle and Cap are part of the Mediccinet ecosystem, alongside the Mediccinet web portal and Smartpackage solutions for blister packs, vials, and syringes.
Cap Inlay
In the simplest solution, cap openings are detected by the electronics incorporated in the bottle cap. The bottle cap then stores the date and time of opening.
The cap monitors ambient temperature at programmable intervals and stores data for up to 130 bottle openings.
All information is securely encrypted. After the bottle is filled and sealed, the electronics are protected and only patient and dispensing data can be added. Following final programming, the system is permanently locked to prevent data manipulation.
Neck Inlay
ECCT’s most advanced SmartBottle solution however features single dose detection. The detector fits into the neck-finish of any bottle. In this case, the SmartBottle detects each individual pill popped from the bottle and stores the date and time of each individual dose. Our SmartBottle also detects when a pill is returned to the bottle.
Reading Data
The SmartBottle and SmartCap incorporate a small NFC aerial. NFC (Near Field Communication) readers or smart phones with the NFC feature and one of our apps can read the gathered pill data from the SmartBottle. The data read from the SmartBottle can be viewed locally on the smart phone or NFC reader. The data can also be sent to our compliance database Mediccinet™ for storage or further analysis.
